2024 seemed to simply fly by, and it’s incredible to me that we’re rolling into 2025 already. With a refreshed perspective and rejuvenated after a break from routine, I’m glad to be back at it and helping our clients meet their goals. Keeping up with the evolution of LinkedIn can feel a little daunting, though, as things change so often. Have no fear – here’s how you can stay ahead of the game in 2025.
Know your LinkedIn algorithm
LinkedIn’s algorithm in 2025 is all about relevance and value. Gone are the days when simply posting frequently was enough to gain traction and get people’s attention. LinkedIn’s algorithms have become much more sophisticated (and I like it!) Nowadays, LinkedIn’s algorithm prioritises content that sparks genuine engagement and adds value to the professional community. Remember when my team talked about dwell time? 2025 is the time to consider the dwell time people use when they’re looking at your content. The LinkedIn algorithm now pays close attention to how long users spend viewing a post before engaging with it. You need to be creating content that captures and holds attention.
Quality over quantity
If you’re pushing out a LinkedIn post every day, I’ve got questions for you, because that’s not how to get it right. The LinkedIn algorithm now favours posts that generate meaningful conversations, not just likes and shares. Think about the last time you scrolled through your LinkedIn feed. Which posts made you stop and think? Which ones compelled you to leave a comment or share with your network? That’s the kind of content you should aim to create.
LinkedIn is on a mission to create a more human, authentic experience for its users. Creating content that resonates with your audience on a personal level is more important than ever. Share your expertise, but do it in a way that’s relatable and adds real value to your network.
Optimise your profile
It’s always amazing to me that people create their LinkedIn profile and then never look at it again. You have every opportunity to revise, renew, and optimise your LinkedIn profile. You could do it every day if you like! Use a professional profile picture and a custom banner that reflects your brand identity. Your headline should clearly communicate what you do and who you help. Your About section should highlight your key achievements and what makes you stand out. Don’t be shy about keeping it updated with new achievements! LinkedIn’s algorithm takes into account the relevance of your profile to other users. The more complete and engaging your profile is, the more likely you are to appear in search results and be recommended to potential connections.
Diversify your content
If you haven’t started using various types of content on LinkedIn, and have simply stuck to the typical text post…it’s time to shake things up. LinkedIn supports multiple types of content, including articles, status updates, and videos. Mix up your content to keep your audience engaged and offer value in different formats. Native video content is particularly favoured by the algorithm in 2025. Consider creating short, engaging videos that give your audience valuable insights or behind-the-scenes glimpses into your professional life. Short-form videos tend to capture attention and increase dwell time, which the algorithm loves.
Stay eager and engaged
The LinkedIn algorithm in 2025 places a high value on engagement. Don’t simply share your thoughts – invite other people to join the discussion. Ask questions, seek opinions, and encourage your network to share their experiences. When people do engage with your content, make sure to respond. The LinkedIn algorithm takes note of these interactions and is more likely to show your content to a wider audience. It’s about more than simply posting content, it’s about engaging with other people’s content too. Comment on updates from your network, share valuable content and participate in relevant discussions. This helps you to build stronger connections and signals to the algorithm that you’re an active, engaged member of the LinkedIn community.
Measure and evolve
Just as LinkedIn continues to evolve, so should your approach to your LinkedIn life. Don’t forget to regularly check your LinkedIn analytics. Pay attention to which types of posts are getting the most engagement and adjust your strategy accordingly. The LinkedIn algorithm is constantly evolving, and what works today might not work tomorrow. Stay flexible and be willing to experiment with new approaches.
May 2025 be your best year yet! I’ll see you on LinkedIn.
