Social networking sites have grown tremendously in recent years, so now it is more important than ever to make sure that you are up to date. Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn are among the giants when it comes to social media, but that doesn’t mean other social networking sites aren’t making a name for themselves. Pinterest is rapidly emerging as one of the top contenders when it comes to social networking, and even though it has only been active for a few years, it has the potential to expose your content to over 70 million users. If you want to expose your business, then you can’t afford to ignore the many features that Pinterest has to offer.
Pin Your Content
It doesn’t matter how you promote your products. Whether you use video, PDF, e-books or even blog posts, you have to pin your content if you want it to be public. Continuous pins will show your users what you are all about, and other users will most likely have an interest in you if you depict yourself as an expert in your chosen field. You will also find that whenever an article is pinned, a back-link is created from the website to the content itself. In other words, you are not only creating a continuous stream of traffic, you are also dramatically increasing your back-link count which will help with your SEO.
When you post content to Pinterest, you need to make sure that it is reflective of your chosen niche. You also need to make sure that it has a spark of originality. If you are sharing to a local crowd, then share your opinions on events, or places of interest in that area. If you are looking at an international audience, then include facts about your niche, statistics, or other interesting information that will be of interest to your followers.
Add Pinterest to Your Website
Pinterest has a large number of interesting tools that you should be using to your advantage. Some of them can even be installed onto your website, further increasing your Pinterest followers. We all want to increase our follower counts, be sure to include “Follow me on Pinterest” and “Pin it” buttons. Pinterest allows you to obtain these buttons with ease. Simply go to Pinterest for business, click on the “Tools” tab, and finally click on “Pin it button”.
Combining Pinterest and Facebook
Cross-promoting is one of the best ways to get your name out as a company or industry professional. It doesn’t matter whether you own a corporate organisation or a small to medium business, cross-promoting remains to be one of the most effective forms of social media marketing. There are many apps which allow you to integrate Pinterest and Facebook. This will allow your Facebook fans to also follow you on other social media platforms, furthering your reach as well as promoting your business on multiple levels.
Get Your Pins To Appear In Search Results
If you want your pins to appear in search results, then you need to make sure you are using the official “Pin it” button. As mentioned above, you can find this on the Pinterest website. The more Pinners that add content from your website, the more credibility you will establish as a user, in turn increasing your chances of showing up in the major search engines. Make sure that you also pre-fill the suggested descriptions with information and hash tags that are relevant to your website, as this will further your credibility as both a business and as a Pinterest user.
Use community Boards
Community Boards remain one of the most potent and fastest ways to increase your reach. Simply search for terms in your niche and find community boards you can request an invite to. Here is one of my favourite boards.
If social media was an important niche for you, this is an excellent board to gain an invite too. Once your invite request has been accepted by the creator of any community board, the board appears on your profile. You can then pin content to these boards, be careful to abide by any rules the creator of these boards sets or you risk being removed from these boards.
