Creating or sharing content that’s relevant and interesting to your network is still the best way to build trust and position yourself as an authority in your niche. LinkedIn is always looking for ways to help members appropriately promote their brands and engage with their audience.
If you’re creating content on LinkedIn it stands to reason that you want as many people as possible to see it and ideally engage with it. LinkedIn’s Creator Mode feature is purpose-built to help content creators like you do just this.
Your posts, comments and any content you share already appear in the Activity section of your profile but that involves scrolling down, clicking on ‘Activity’ and then clicking on ‘See all activity’.
That’s fine but the Creator Mode feature commenced it’s roll out in late March 2021 will push your Activity and Featured sections to the top of your profile, making it much easier for visitors to your page to see, read and engage.
You can also make it easier for your readers to anticipate the type of content you usually post. When you set the feature up you can choose to include up to 5 hashtags so they will know what to expect.
If it’s available in your region it’s easy to activate and set up. You’ll find it on your Profile page in ‘Your Dashboard’.
That’s where you can turn it on and set the hashtags. You’ll also see that the blue ‘Connect’ button has changed to ‘Follow’ to encourage more people to follow your content even if they’re not yet a first level connection.
Here’s what those steps look like on a mobile screen, when completed.
And here are the 5 simple steps to follow to turn this feature on to promote your content:
Step 1: Navigate to Your Dashboard and turn Creator Mode on
Step 2: Preview the changes that will be made and click Next
Step 3: Add 1-5 hashtags to alert your audience to the topics you post
Step 4: Choose whether to allow these topics to show on your Profile Intro
Step 5: Click Save and it will be turned on
You can always come back and edit your settings or turn Creator Mode off at any time. You can find a bit more detail on LinkedIn’s help and support centre.
Of course if you’re still in a fairly passive mode on LinkedIn, consuming content rather than creating it you’ll be missing out on opportunities to grow your business through content marketing on this platform.
If creating content regularly and consistently seems scary or too time consuming help is at hand.
